One of the tasks of the Integrity Chamber is the rendering of an advice or proposal on whistle-blowers. Whistle-blowers are persons who alerts society to a person or organisation engaging in unlawful or immoral activity. Because of this task, the Integrity Chamber paid a working visit to the Dutch Whistle-blowers Authority (Huis voor Klokkenluiders) in the Netherlands. The Dutch Whistle-blowers Authority was represented by President, Mr. Wilbert Tomesen, and the Acting Director and Head of the Expertise and Prevention unit, Ms. Marijntje Zweegers. The delegation of the Integrity Chamber consisted of President Rian Vogels, members Rafael Boasman and Hans Lodder, along with Deputy Director of the secretariat, Gabi Fuchs.
The organisations exchanged valuable information. The Dutch Whistle-blowers Authority was able to learn from the advices and proposals submitted by the Integrity Chamber, as well as the integrity awareness program promoted by the organisation and the way in which the organisation effectively operates in a smaller society. The Integrity Chamber was able to learn the best practices of the institute and translate it to the unique circumstances of Sint Maarten.
Both parties noted that the meeting was a positive experience and will remain in contact should further opportunities for collaboration arise. The Integrity Chamber believes that cooperation between organisations in the Kingdom is important for the progress of the nations and will continue to establish fruitful interactions.
