Integrity Chamber Provides Integrity Session for Parliament Orientation Week
On February 16, 2024, the Integrity Chamber provided the Members of Parliament with an integrity session as part of the Orientation Week for the newly sworn-in parliamentarians. The Integrity Chamber was represented by Rik Bergman (President), Rafael Boasman (Member), Charna Pompier (Director), and Amanda Browne (Policy Advisor).
Information was provided on the structure, history, regulatory framework, tasks, and current developments of the organisation. The importance of integrity within Parliament was discussed, and how integrity could be promoted and maintained within the organisation.
An interactive discussion was stimulated about integrity through various scenarios. The scenarios resulted in a lively discussion, and included themes related to accountability, organisational resources, representation, and private vs. public interests. The participants were encouraged to be mindful of their actions as role models and representatives of the country and to develop the necessary integrity policies, such as a Code of Conduct for Parliament.
The Integrity Chamber appreciated the opportunity to provide the session to Parliament and to have the discussion on integrity.
