New President of the Integrity Chamber Sworn In
The newly appointed President of the Integrity Chamber, Mr. G.R. (Rik) Bergman, was sworn in by His Excellency, Governor Ajamu Baly on April 15, 2024. Bergman was appointed by Kingdom Decree per January 1st, 2024, for a term of three years on the binding recommendation of his fellow members, Hans Lodder and Rafael Boasman.
Bergman holds a master’s degree in Civil Law from the University of Utrecht and is a Certified Mediator. Bergman has 25 years of experience in the field of law and mediation in Sint Maarten. He spearheaded the role of mediation in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, being the first licensed and professional mediator on Sint Maarten.
As former Dean of the Sint Maarten Bar Association, he promoted the togetherness of the Bar and the professionalism of its members. He contributed to international relations for Sint Maarten in his capacity as British Honorary Consul and has been active in several foundations and public causes.
Bergman also served as a member of the Council of Advice of Sint Maarten for 12 years. Bergman combines his duties in the Integrity Chamber with several board positions focusing on health and education.
Bergman is pleased to play a part in moving the Integrity Chamber into its next phase, guiding Government and its entities in building a stronger culture of integrity, for future generations. With confidence and optimism, he looks forward to the collaboration with Government, Parliament, fellow advisory bodies, and other stakeholders.
